SB Contemporary Art is is a commercial gallery space that showcases contemporary Canadian, established, mid-career and emerging, artists. The gallery has a focus on local artists’ works, but also highlights national and international artists. The gallery is situated in western Ontario, on the border of Canada and the United States, in the downtown core of the city of Windsor. This bridged city venue provides interested artists, patrons and collectors visiting or living in Essex county, or the Detroit area with an accessible commercial art location.
The gallery space will feature 8 – 10 exhibitions each year providing an active and resourceful environment for artists and the community. Educational courses, featured artist talks and workshops will allow those interested in the arts, and those wanting to know more, a chance to meet, learn, and work alongside aspiring and established artists.
For individuals and businesses interested in collecting works of art the gallery provides the convenience of an in-house art consultation for private and corporate clients. For those that are just beginning to build a collection of work, an informative primary consultation highlights, art appreciation, art installation, and placement to assist and provide you with the information you need to select an original work of art that is right for you and your environment.
The option of art rental is also available if you wish to view the work in your environment before making a final decision; this service is also available for private and corporate functions.
Sarah Beveridge Contemporary Art was first established in Barrie, Ontario and opened in April 2005. The gallery successfully featured a total of 17 exhibitions over the next two years. Some of the artists that were highlighted through the gallery include:
In 2007, Sarah Beveridge was hired as the Curator of Exhibitions and Public Projects for Barrie’s public gallery the MacLaren Art Centre. Sarah Beveridge Contemporary Art closed shortly after. Beveridge has returned to Windsor, Ontario were she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Windsor. She is thrilled to be back and to once again be a part of what was always a dynamic art community. SB Contemporary Art will open its new location at 1017 Church Street on April 9, 2011.
Sarah Beveridge is a mixed media artist, curator, and writer. She holds a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Western Ontario (2000-2002) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Windsor (1993-1997).
She has had the opportunity in the last twelve years to explore the Canadian art scene through many different roles. This dedicated journey began in Toronto, as she was a Co-founder of Sis Boom Bah Gallery, Queen West, and later the Co-Director of I-Land Gallery; Morrow Ave (1998-2000). Following the completion of her Masters, she opened a commercial gallery, Sarah Beveridge Contemporary Art, in downtown Barrie, Ontario (2005-2007) and later became the Curator of Exhibitions and Public Projects for the MacLaren Art Centre, Barrie, Ontario (2006 -2009).
As an artist, Beveridge has exhibited her work in galleries in Windsor, Stratford, London, Toronto, Oshawa, Cambridge, and Barrie, Ontario. And, as a curator she has published writing on the work of contemporary Canadian artists, Sheila Butler, Jack Butler, Monica Tap, Patrick Mahon, Don Maynard, Vera Jacyk, and Olexander Wlasenko.
